Spidex has announced that CP Foods UK (a subsidiary of the CP Foods Group, one of the world’s largest food producers) has selected Mainsaver CMMS to support best-practice maintenance at its production facility in Newmarket, UK.
CP Foods is a global business working with leading retailers, manufacturers and restaurants supplying a diverse range of quality food products.
The selection of Mainsaver followed an evaluation exercise initiated when CP Foods’ engineering maintenance team decided to replace the CMMS they had been using previously. The system was nearing the end of its useful life, having been de-supported by its supplier. (In any event, the next Windows upgrade would have rendered it unusable due to compatibility issues.)
CP Foods’ experience with the older CMMS ensured that the engineers were very clear about what was required from its replacement. Engineering Administrator Karen Daffurn explains: “A particular requirement from the new CMMS was a module to support management of stores inventory. This was important because when we know the accumulated outlay on spare parts, then we are in a better position to track lifetime costs for every plant asset.”
“The deciding factor though, was that Mainsaver appeared the most ‘engineer-friendly’ of all the systems we looked at. We already knew that if a CMMS isn’t quick and easy to use, then the likelihood is it won’t be. Spidex’s offering matched our criteria the best in this area.”
An improvement in engineer engagement with the CMMS is expected to support a number of longer-term objectives. A primary one will be to increase the percentage of planned maintenance work, and thereby reduce lost production time due to machine failure.
Another anticipated benefit, with manufacturing industry increasingly subject to regulatory compliance, is shortening the preparation process for external audits by extracting maintenance data held in the CMMS.
Spidex Managing Director Jonathan Starling said “It is fantastic to be working with an international food manufacturer like CP Foods. We warmly welcome them as a customer and look forward to a long and happy working relationship.”
