Spidex is delighted to announce that it has been appointed the UK reseller for Blackbird’s production monitoring hardware Factbird.
Factbird’s remarkable standalone units, requiring only a power supply and a connected sensor, can be installed in under an hour – independent of your existing IT network – and will start delivering live production data immediately. This data, stored securely in the cloud, can be accessed remotely via PC, tablet or smartphone.
Factbird can supply the data you need to find out:
How is production running?
Factbird can tell you how efficiently the lines are operating, how much of each product has been produced so far and how different shifts compare performance-wise. Key metrics such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) are available in real-time at the click of a button alongside the equipment performance tracker.
How much downtime have we sustained?
Factbird shows you the number of line stops, how long changeovers have taken and calculates your accumulated lost production time per line. The optional Factbird View unit even features a video camera so you can view actual footage of any lost-time event for root-cause analysis, removing the need for improvement teams to monitor lines continuously.
What are our recurring issues?
Factbird enables you to register a cause for each lost-time event in order that recurring problems can be identified and remediated. For daily and weekly operations meetings, Factbird data can be exported into Excel, PDF and image formats for easy visual representation of plant manufacturing performance.
Spidex is currently in discussions with Blackbird to create an interface with Mainsaver so that plant downtime data is relayed directly to the CMMS and work orders created automatically based upon designated stoppage types.
Intelligent, easy-to-use systems like Factbird are forming the vanguard of the next wave of manufacturing process improvement that has become known as industry 4.0. This allows you to connect standalone or non-networkable equipment, introduce monitoring of conditions such as ambient or machine temperatures and capture plant run-time without the expense of SCADA systems or complex PLC integrations.
If you would be interested in finding out more about Factbird, either as a standalone or connected to Mainsaver, please call 0844 324 9190 for information or to arrange a demo. Spidex will also be showing Factbird at the Food & Drink Engineering Summit at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena on 7th November.
